In particular, Michielsens wanted to obtain accurate and accurate fleet statistics on the use of their cranes and vehicles. However, the company has so many different machines that it was impossible to use an “ordinary” black box. This is why Suivo’s technical team needed to find a solution for the individual technical specifications of the hydraulic cranes, crawler cranes and mobile tower cranes used by Michielsens. First they had to remove the cables, because they would be in the way when the cranes rotate 360°. Secondly, simple registration of the running engine would not provide enough analysis data on the use and movements of the crane mast.
The introduction of the GPS tracking system is one piece of a very big puzzle: it allows the company to coach its drivers more easily so they drive safely and reduce the risk of an emergency stop. An additional advantage is that drivers consume less fuel by driving safely, reducing operational costs of the Michielsens’ fleet.
Because the registration of hours worked takes place automatically, the administrative burden for both the fleet managers and drivers decreases. No more paper time sheets are used, which gives Michielsens’ professionals more time to do what they like and what they are good at.
