Saves fuel by optimising driver behaviour, intelligently and dynamically.
Edegem, 1 June 2018 – The Belgian technology company Suivo is proud to announce its latest innovation. At the “We Are Transport” trade fair, Suivo launches Suivo Smart Drive, a dynamically-adaptable system that optimises acceleration, gear change behaviour, RPM and the maximum speed of a vehicle. The benefits for fleet managers are clear. Drivers drive more calmly, which results in increased safety, avoidance of damage to vehicles, and an average reduction of maintenance costs throughout the entire fleet. But the most remarkable advantage is the considerable fuel savings – up to 10%.
Suivo, a manufacturer of innovative telematics and Internet of Things applications, is expanding its management platform with a system that allows companies to actively save fuel. Suivo Smart Drive is an acceleration and speed limiter that optimises the driving behaviour of the driver in an intelligent, dynamic and flexible manner.
How does Suivo Smart Drive work?
Suivo Smart Drive works in tandem with the electronic accelerator pedal and the ECU (Electronic Control Unit) by taking advantage of the acceleration pattern and the speed of the vehicle. The accelerator signal is continuously, automatically and smoothly adjusted to reduce inefficient acceleration, redundant speed and fuel consumption.
Flexible and dynamic
Both the acceleration limitation and the speed limits can be controlled via the Suivo Web Application. During the installation, the customer can decide that different profiles that can be switched between. This enables the customer to configure Suivo Smart Drive dynamically and flexibly, depending on the circumstances and the desired savings.
The configuration options are numerous. Do you want a stricter limit for certain drivers or certain sites? How about extra speed restrictions for vehicles with a trailer? Or a maximum speed when reversing? All this and much more is possible.
Return on Investment within one year
Suivo Smart Drive can be used on trucks and vans, as well as passenger cars and other motorised machines, such as forklifts. All vehicles equipped with an electronic accelerator pedal and an ISO 15765-4 compatible CAN-BUS (OBD-II protocol or equivalent) are compatible. The system is operational immediately after installation, and continues to work for the life of the vehicle. The highest return is reserved for service, transport and courier companies with multiple start and stop times per day or many short trips in an urban environment. With Suivo Smart Drive, they can quickly, measurably and drastically save on their fuel consumption. The investment will be recouped within six to twelve months.
Tests speak for themselves: up to 10% less fuel consumption
The first pilot projects achieved significant savings. The Antwerp courier company, ASX-IBECO, recorded an average fuel saving of 5.20% on their small and large vans that were tested with a mild limitation. De Kringwinkel Antwerp, part of the second-hand retail chain, De Kringwinkel, also achieved a considerable saving of 10.7% with the trucks they used as test vehicles.
Elke Krämer, Marketing Manager at Suivo, is enthusiastic: “We are very much looking forward to presenting Suivo Smart Drive at ‘We Are Transport’ to a professional public. Fuel saving is a topical issue, and there are many preconceptions about acceleration limiters. We want to prove that it can be done differently. We are offering a low-cost test package at the trade fair. Both fleet managers and drivers can experience how flexible our system really is in practise. They will be quickly convinced. We are sure of that.”
