About

Digipolis Antwerp is the specialized, strategic IT partner of the city of Antwerp group and the driving IT force behind its digital transformation and acceleration. The building app

The city of Antwerp wanted to digitize the inspection reports from the construction yards. After an initial functional analysis by Digipolis, Suivo was chosen to build the tailormade solution. A perfect challenge for the Suivo development and professional services team!

The yard inspectors now carry an iPad with an app that receives the daily planning with the jobs to execute. Geographical intelligence is built in to check if the provided address matches the geocoordinates of the actual location of the yard. If it’s incorrect, the inspector can change the address in the app, which will then automatically be corrected in the backend systems as well.

The tasks are assigned with priorities. For each type of inspection task, you have a specific inspection flow to follow. For some jobs you have to take pictures and add comments, for others it’s just answering questions. The questionnaires are also following decision trees, so questions can appear or disappear depending on the answer that you provide. There are automatic checks which oblige you to complete all necessary input before you can close the task and send it back for processing. This avoids errors. In case there is no connectivity on the yard, they can work offline and the report will be sent back when a connection is made again.

In the backend system from Digipolis you can also choose to transfer a certain task to another inspector, e.g. when one reports sick and the inspection has to be completed urgently by one of his colleagues. The mobile app is structured so that every information already filled in will be synchronized in the backend and then forwarded to the new inspector.

The 'Onderweg' App

The ‘Underway’ project was realised in collaboration with Digipolis for the city of Antwerp and resulted in a generic solution with the aim of equipping the teams of the city with an app to perform all kinds of registrations through the use of dynamic questionnaires during house visits.

The solution consists of two different components: the ‘Underway’ app and the management application. Both applications run in the browser and are fully responsive for use on smartphones. The app was designed with generic function in mind to be deployable for filling in any type of questionnaire in any context besides the initially intended use for social services. Optional features include coupling with a government dossier and automatic report generation.

The ‘Underway’ app allows users to perform registration through filling in questionnaires and taking pictures and notes. The data of the registration can be processed in a report and everything is forwarded asynchronously to the backend. The application is able to deal with a loss of connection and ensures all data is uploaded when connectivity is restored.
